It's hard to believe that the first month of 2012 is just about over already!!
The end of 2011 was a hectic time for my household. The holidays are always a little crazy with family getting together and parties popping up all over the place. It also meant the end of another school semester. This time around though, the focus was on business. I walked away with, not only, a Small Business/Entrepreneurial Certificate that I can add to my resume, but also some pretty well-formed business, marketing, and finance plans for Midian!! It was essentially the kick in the pants I needed to stop lollygagging and make my business the full-time venture I would like it to be.
December also brought with it my first art show/exhibition! It was the first time I've shown something, outside of a website or con, in a 'fine art' environment! Though I didn't have any sales, I have a gallery owner who would be interested in setting up a show for my work in the future and I also was given the name of another gallery that would probably really dig my stuff! I'll just have to see what happens.
This new year has also gotten off to a good start! I've been spending my down time working on glass projects, building my inventory up. I've entered some glass panels into a new art show; I should find out in the next few days if they made it in. I'm continuing work on my Ghouls of Gore (non-glass) mosaic series; I'm on the 4th entry. I'm also slowly updating work online, including my Facebook page (
[link] ), Etsy/BigCartel, and of course, DA. I should have most pics uploaded in the next week or two.
I'd love to get a booth setup at Texas Ren Fest this year, but was advised that I should have all my ducks in a row before I even submit an application. As TRF is a big investment, I may hold off until next year and just try to get back into doing some Texas cons this year. Either way, I feel like I'm on a roll!
I'm looking forward to what the rest of this year brings!
